Coming July 1: New minimum wage rates in cities and counties
Workers in a number of cities and counties across the country will get a raise on July 1 when these new hourly minimum wage rates take effect:
• Berkeley, California: $16.32
• Emeryville, California: $17.13
• Fremont, California: $15 (25 or fewer employees); $15.25 (26 or more employees)
• Los Angeles, California: $15 (all employers; previously large and small employers had different rates)
• Malibu: $15 (all employers; previously large and small employers had different rates)
• Milpitas: $15.65 • Pasadena, California: $15 (all employers; previously large and small employers had different rates)
• San Francisco, California: $16.32 • Santa Monica: $15 (all employers; previously large and small employers had different rates)
• Chicago, Illinois: $14 (4 to 20 employees); $15 (21 or more employees); $11 (Youth workers); Tipped workers: $6.60 (youth); $8.40 (small employers); $9 (large employers)
• Cook County, Illinois: $13 per hour for non-tipped workers (no increase); $6.60 per hour for tipped workers
• Montgomery County, Maryland: $13.50 per hour (10 or fewer employees); $14 per hour (11 to 50 employees); $15 per hour (51 or more employees)
New posters needed The new rates bring the need to display new employment law posters as of July 1. Besides Malibu, the cities listed above have released new minimum wage posters for employers to display. Update Service coverage When employers have the Update Service from J. J.
