What you need to know about July 2022 posting updates
There are no summertime doldrums in the labor law poster world. July is a busy time for posting changes, as minimum wage rates and regulatory changes drive updates.
These state changes take effect July 1, 2022:
District of Columbia - Minimum Wage
The district’s minimum wage increases to $16.10 per hour on July 1, and the Department of Employment Services has updated the minimum wage poster to show the new rate.
Nevada - Minimum Wage, Overtime, Rules to be Observed by Employers, Assembly Bill 307
The Silver State has several mid-year posting changes taking effect:
• The minimum wage bulletin shows the rates in effect as of July 1, 2022. Employers offering qualifying health benefits must pay at least $9.50 per hour. Those not offering qualifying health benefits must pay $10.50 per hour.
• The daily overtime annual bulletin provides overtime rate information. Daily overtime may be applicable if employees earn less than $14.25 per hour (if qualifying health benefits are offered) or less than $15.75 per hour (if qualifying health benefits are not offered).
• The Rules to be Observed by Employers posting shows the 2022 minimum wage of $10.50 per hour if qualifying health benefits are not offered, or $9.50 per hour if the employer offers qualifying health benefits.
• The AB307 posting has updated information on job training and employment programs.
New Mexico - Paid Sick Leave Notice of Employee Rights
A new Paid Sick Leave Notice of Employee Rights must be posted as of July 1. The posting describes when employees may use paid sick leave under the new law. It also provides information on the complaint process.
Oregon —Minimum Wage
The state’s annual minimum wage increase brings a posting update. As of July 1, the standard rate is $13.50 per hour, and the rate is $14.75 per hour in the Portland metro area. In nonurban counties, the rate is $12.50 per hour.
Virginia — Seizure First Aid
A new seizure first aid posting requirement, the first of its kind in the country, takes effect on July 1.
Staying in compliance
These new or updated posters must be displayed in a conspicuous location where they are visible to workers. If your employees work remotely in the states listed, electronic posting is a great way to make them aware of their rights.
