On October 19, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced the release of a new “Know Your Rights: Workplace Discrimination is Illegal” posting. Here’s what you need to know about the new poster:
1. It’s required for covered employers. The EEOC states that employers must display the poster.
2. Covered employers are those with 15 or more employees.
3. The poster replaces the “Equal Employment Opportunity” is the Law (“EEO is the Law”) poster.
4. The new poster uses a bulleted format to summarize employee protections under anti-discrimination laws.

7. Information relating to organizations receiving federal financial assistance is also on the poster.
8. The poster is available in English and Spanish. Other languages are coming soon.
9. The new poster must be posted as soon as possible.
10. There is a fine for failing to display the EEOC posting. This could reach $612 for each instance of noncompliance. Employers should display the new posting as soon as possible to ensure compliance with federal posting regulations.
